Documentaries — Continued
JOB #1:
Be sure to watch and comment on TWO interviews on this site from your fellow students.
JOB #2:
SOUND ELEMENTS
A: Ghost Car
- What sounds were dubbed in (added afterwards) to this footage?
- Are there any sounds that you are not sure about?
- Does the narration add to the video? Why or why not?
B. Trayvon Martin’s killer arrested:
- This video is an example of footage with no sound. Does the absence of sound add to the video? Why or why not?
- Does this ‘raw footage’ make the video more truthful or real? Why or why not?
- Is this raw footage engaging in and of itself?
JOB #3: PHOTO MANIPULATION
Please go to the following site: http://pixlr.com/express/. Upload a photo that you have found on the internet and complete the following task:
Look here for an example I made using Pixlr.com:
- Make the photo look older / historical.
- Then upload your photo to the Hand-In Folder.
JOB #4: Documentary Practice
Watch the following video:
This is an example of documentary using the software available to us = Windows Movie Maker. Your job is to do the following:
- Open up the program WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER.
- Import the .avi file about Bigfoot being captured on film. (If I did it right, the file is in the Handout Folder.)
- Experiment with documentary elements by making a mini-documentary with this piece of footage. Aim to have your mini-documentary to be about 30 to 60 seconds long. You can achieve this by adding in slides with text, still photos, cartoons, etc. You also add in music from the site: http://www.looperman.com
